Theme: Japan Retro

This project breathes new life into the nostalgic landscapes, items, and cultural elements of Japan, reimagined through the lens of contemporary design.

From the retro-modern aesthetics of the Showa era to the vibrant pop culture of the Heisei period, and perspectives that lead to the future, each piece is inspired by the keyword “Japan Retro.”

The works, created with the free and unique interpretations of talented designers, are a harmonious blend of nostalgia and innovation. Each piece embodies the warmth of “Japan” while offering a refreshing sense of surprise.

“Onmyoji” by “U”≠ZI

The work “Onmyoji” by creator “U”≠ZI draws inspiration from the theme of “Japan Retro” and is based on the ancient Japanese legend of Onmyoji. These mystical figures were said to possess the power to command deities and banish evil spirits. Their world symbolizes the harmony of “yin” and “yang,” a balance that continues to captivate people to this day.

“U”≠ZI reimagines this traditional theme through his unique perspective, blending the ancient mystique of Onmyoji with a modern artistic vision. The piece highlights the profound beauty hidden within Japan’s rich history and the essence of “retro,” offering a transformative art experience that bridges the past and the future.

昭和のレトロモダン、平成のポップカルチャー、
そして未来へ繋がる独自の視点。
「ジャパン・レトロ」というキーワードから、各デザイナーが
自由な発想で生み出した作品が揃いました。
ノスタルジーと革新が交錯するアート作品は、
どれも「日本」を感じる温かみと新鮮な驚きに満ちています。

「陰陽師」 by “U”≠ZI

クリエイター “U”≠ZI 氏が「ジャパン・レトロ」から着想を得て制作した本作は、古代日本の伝説「陰陽師」をテーマにしています。陰陽師は神秘の力で神々を操り、邪神を払う存在として語り継がれてきました。その「陰」と「陽」の調和を象徴する世界観は、今もなお多くの人々を魅了しています。

“U”≠ZI 氏はこのテーマを独自の解釈で再構築し、古代の神秘と現代的なビジョンを融合させました。深い歴史と「レトロ」というテーマに潜む美しさを描き出したこの作品は、過去と未来を結ぶ新たなアート体験を提供します。
